Our Story

Designed and made locally in Motueka, New Zealand, Acorn Furniture is a second-generation family business with a rich history in fine craftsmanship. In 1997, founder Adrian Trewavas launched Woodwrights, following his passion for creating quality lifestyle furniture.

As the New Zealand aged care and retirement sectors expanded, the need for furniture designed specifically for these environments became clear. This led to a strong focus on furniture that balanced durability, functionality, and considered design, forming the foundation of Acorn Furniture in 2002.

Today, hundreds of aged care, retirement, and healthcare facilities across New Zealand partner with Acorn Furniture as their trusted provider.

Based in Motueka, our timber factory handles high-volume and complex production, including work on our 5-axis CNC machine. This capability allows us to craft precise, durable, and high-quality timber furniture efficiently.

Separate from our timber facility, our melamine and upholstery factory in Motueka produces custom finishes and upholstery solutions. This ensures consistency, durability, and design flexibility across every piece we create.

Our dedicated freight and delivery team ensures every project is handled with care from our factory to your space. We manage the entire process, delivering furniture according to floor plans, placing each item in its intended position, unwrapping, and removing all packaging.

By handling delivery in-house, we provide complete control over timing, quality, and accuracy, giving you confidence that your space will be ready to use exactly as planned. Our team’s experience with complex projects and large-scale installations means you can trust that even the most challenging deliveries are executed smoothly and efficiently.
